Turn your screen into a ring light

Your monitor or tablet is a big, soft light source. This page fills it with clean white or warm light, so your face is brighter and evenly lit on Zoom, Teams, Meet, FaceTime or in selfies. It is ideal for a late meeting in a dark room or when the only window is behind you.

Open this page on a second screen, tablet or spare laptop and place it just behind your webcam, facing you.
Turn the device brightness all the way up. This page asks the screen to stay awake while the light is on.
Pick a color temperature. Warm light (around 3200K) flatters skin at night. Daylight (5600K) matches a window during the day.
Press Full screen light. Double-click or press Esc to exit.

Only have one screen? The webcam mirror shows your camera with a light ring around it on the same screen.

Ring light questions

Does a screen ring light really work?

Yes, especially in a dim room. A bright screen close to your face is a large, soft light that fills in shadows. It is not as strong as a real LED ring light, so turn the device brightness to maximum.

What color temperature is best for video calls?

Match the light already in the room. Around 3200K is warm and flattering at night with lamps on. Around 5600K matches daylight from a window.

Can I use my phone as a ring light?

Yes. Open this page on your phone, choose Full screen light and prop the phone behind your webcam or next to your laptop, facing you.

Why does my screen dim after a while?

Some devices dim to save power. This page asks the screen to stay awake in full screen, but if your device ignores it, turn off auto-lock or auto-brightness while you use it.
