Practice like the real thing
Many employers now use one-way video interviews, where you see a question, get a short time to think and then record your answer with no one on the other end. Platforms such as HireVue, Spark Hire and Willo all work this way. This page copies that format so the real one feels familiar: a question appears, a think timer counts down, and your answer records automatically until time runs out.
Your answers are recorded by your browser and stay on your device. Play each one back straight away and download the ones you want to keep or share with a mentor.
Use the STAR method for behavioral questions
- Situation. Set the scene in one or two sentences.
- Task. Say what you were responsible for.
- Action. Spend most of your time on what you did, step by step.
- Result. Finish with the outcome, ideally with a number, and what you learned.
Before your real video interview
- Check your camera and light with the webcam test. Face a window and raise your laptop so the camera is at eye level.
- Test your microphone with the mic test and use wired earbuds if your room echoes.
- Check your connection with the internet speed test. Uploading a recorded answer needs a steady upload speed.
Video interview practice questions
How do I practice for a one-way video interview?
Press Start practice and allow your camera and microphone. You get a question, 30 seconds to think and two minutes to answer, which is how most one-way interview platforms work. Change the timers to match the invitation you received.
Is this the same as HireVue?
No. This page is not connected to HireVue or any employer. It copies the common format of timed, recorded answers so you can rehearse.
Are my practice answers uploaded?
No. Your browser records each answer on your device. Nothing is sent to TurnCamOn or anyone else unless you download a file and share it yourself.
How long should a video interview answer be?
Aim for one to two minutes. Start with a direct answer, give one specific example, and finish with the result.
